Tranent Physiotherapy

(formerly Shona Dewar Physiotherapy)

We have made the difficult decision to close to all except urgent patients with difficulty moving or patients who are key workers and need our assistance to help them stay at work. We will have telehealth appointments available within the next couple of days for anyone else who needs advice and provisional diagnosis. If you are unsure whether you fit in to the urgent patient group, please give us a call and we will assist.

Throughout this time we will be available for all our patients by telephone or email, we are not abandoning you! You may need to leave us a message but we will always get back to you.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our fantastic team of clinician's and admin staff for their support and their devotion to our patients during this crazy time.

About us

We have three highly-trained physiotherapists providing a range of specialist treatments

Shona is a chartered physiotherapist with registration of the Health & Care Professions Council.  She graduated from Queen Margaret University Edinburgh in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.  In 2014 she completed her Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Medicine, specialising in spinal manipulation for chronic low back pain.

Shona  has more than 10 years’ experience at a senior level treating members of the public with musculoskeletal injuries both privately and within the NHS and has spent several years working with sportsmen both on and off the sports field.  These experiences have enabled her to bring a wide variety of skills and expertise to the Musculoskeletal setting.

Having also worked in the Occupational Health setting, Shona is also trained in carrying out Ergonomic and Display Screen assessments.

When not working Shona divides her free time between her dog, her husband and personal interest in running.

Scott joins our team from New Zealand.  He qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2012 from the University of Otago in Dunedin, NZ, after studying Biochemistry.  Scott is now registered with the Health & Care Professions Council here in the UK and is also a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Scott has over two years’ experience working in Queensland, Australia in private practice, sideline sports and occupational health physiotherapy roles.  Scott has also supported touring sports teams in Australia, UK and Europe including several New Zealand and Australian Ultimate Frisbee teams at World Championships.

The varied experience Scott has gained enables him to efficiently identify and diagnose a wide range of Musculo-skeletal injuries and perform expert treatment to get patients quickly back to sport, work and the activities they enjoy.

Danielle graduated from Queen Margaret University in 2015 with BSc (Hons) in physiotherapy.  She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Since then she has worked full time in the NHS completing several rotations before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and making the transition into private practice.

Danielle has also worked part-time for Hibernian FC for the past two and half years as academy physiotherapist running weekly injury clinics and providing pitch-side cover.

Danielle’s main clinical interest is sports rehabilitation and has a range of experience which enables her to diagnose and treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.
